Grange Music Night May 8th, String Orchestra and Chamber Strings
Community Meeting May 24th, Chamber Strings
Memorial Day May 30th, All Strings Members (Beginner, Orchestra, and Chamber)
We have introduced pizzicato (plucking) and the bow hold. Your child should be able to demonstrate rest and playing position. Please help reinforce a good posture and provide a quality practice environment that is well lit and contains a good chair that allows your child's feet to touch the floor and a music stand or table top stand that allows the music to stand upright. We have begun working on the beginning exercises in the book and memorizing the notes on the staff. Your child should also be able to label the open string pitches.
Practice the exercises 46-49 and 55 on pages 15 and 16 in Sound Innovations book. Work on identifying the notes as you play them and getting a clear sound out of your instrument for each note. Make sure you have a good bow hold before playing each exercise.
Look over Basse Dance. We will be systematically learning each section, but skim through and see what you might already know how to play.
